Matic Care and Maintenance Guide: Keep Your Robot Vacuum and Mop Running Smoothly

Matic Care and Maintenance Guide: Keep Your Robot Vacuum and Mop Running Smoothly

Your Matic robot vacuum and mop is designed to tackle messes effortlessly, but like any hardworking device, it thrives with regular care. Proper maintenance ensures optimal suction, mopping performance, and a longer lifespan. In this guide, we’ll walk you through simple steps to keep your Matic moving while the messes keep coming!

Tools and Materials needed:

Soft cloth

Declogging tool (included in your Matic’s accessories box)

Replacement accessories (Need additional replacement accessories? Order them here.)

We recommend three maintenance cadences:

Monthly - Routine cleaning for optimal performance.

Every 6 months - Deeper maintenance and part replacements.

As prompted by your Matic - When your robot notifies you via the app or display screen.

Monthly Maintenance

1.Remove Hair from the Brush roll

Matic's innovative brush roll features a consistent diameter without traditional bristles, minimizing hair entanglement. This design ensures that both short and long hairs remain loose, allowing them to be efficiently directed into the waste compartment.

However, during extended cleaning sessions, hair may accumulate at the ends of the brush roll. To maintain optimal performance, it's advisable to remove the brush roll monthly and clear any hair from these areas. No scissors needed!

2.Clean the Mopping Cavity and Mop Core

A clean mop core ensures efficient mopping and prevents residue buildup.

3.Replace the Side Brush

If the side brush looks frayed or worn out, it’s time to replace it! To check:

Flip Matic onto its right side (when facing the robot head-on)

Inspect the brush for damage or wear.

6 Month Maintenance

Every 6 months, we recommend the following:

1.Clean the Vacuum Filter

Over time, your vacuum filter may collect debris, leading to clogs that can affect performance. Regular cleaning is essential to maintain optimal suction and functionality. To clean the filter, open the lid and remove the HEPA bag. The vacuum filter is in the back right of the bag cavity. Use a small coin and insert it into the groove at the top center of the filter. Gently pull outward to release the filter. Take a paper towel to wipe away any debris. If necessary, rinse the filter under water to remove stubborn dirt.

2.Clean the Caster Wheel

The caster wheel is located on the underside of Matic. Carefully turn Matic on its side and remove any debris from the wheel and its surroundings with a soft cloth.

3.Replace the brush roll

We recommend replacing the brush roll approximately once every 6 months; however, replacement timeline depends on usage. To check the brush roll, open the cleaning head and inspect the brush roll flaps. One of the flaps has a “Max Wear Line”. If the brush roll is worn past the line, it is time to replace it.

Prompted Maintenance

Matic will prompt you on the app or on its display screen when it needs a little tender loving care in these areas:

Bag Full

BAG FULL will appear when your Matic’s HEPA bag is full. Replacing the bag is easy. Simply open Matic’s lid and lift out the bag using the black plastic tab. Do not press down on the rubber lining around the cavity as you take out the bag as the lining can wear down over time. Insert a new bag with the black plastic tab towards the front of the bag cavity. Press down the black tab until it clicks into place. Close the lid and press play to send Matic on its way!

Replaced the bag, but the bag full error remains?

1.Check the bag for damage. Carefully inspect the bag for any damage, particularly on the side with the Matic sticker. Ensure the sticker is intact and has not been ripped open. A damaged bag can block airflow and trigger the "Bag Full" error.

The Matic bag is sealed on one side by design to ensure optimal airflow and performance. This design choice prevents the bag fabric from being drawn into the vacuum inlet, which could choke the airflow and reduce cleaning efficiency.

2.Confirm the Bag is Properly Seated. Make sure the bag is securely inserted into its slot and isn’t loose or misaligned.

3.Clean the Bin and Inspect the Connection.

1) Remove the bag and inspect the bin for any blockages.

2) Use the De-Clogging Tool included in your Matic accessories to carefully remove any clogs or debris in the duct area. Be thorough to ensure airflow isn’t restricted.

4.Check the Vacuum Filter.

1) If the bag is not damaged and there are no clogs at the connection, check the vacuum filter. The vacuum filter plays a key role in airflow. Confirm that it's clean and properly installed. Here are detailed instructions on how to check your vacuum filter.

No Water

NO WATER will appear when there is no water in the water tank or when the tank is missing or improperly inserted into the water tank cavity. Ensure there is water in the tank and that the tank is properly inserted.

Worn Out Mop Roll

When Your Matic lets you know it has a WORN OUT MOP ROLL, it may be time for a new mop roll! Remove the mop roll to inspect and clean it and determine if it needs replacement.

If you replace the mop roll and an error still shows, check the mop roll position to ensure it’s in the right place.

Wringer Clogged

WRINGER CLOGGED may appear when debris clogs the mop wringer. To clean the wringer, remove the mop roll and orange wringer behind it. Wipe down the wringer to remove any debris.

Descaling Needed

DESCALING NEEDED will appear when descaling is needed. Minerals from water build up inside Matic, and using the descaling solution will flush any mineral deposits out of Matic. This process will prolong the life of your Matic. Simply, add a descaling tablet to the water tank and proceed with regular cleaning. Don’t worry! The descaling solution won’t hurt your floors.

Duct Clogged

DUCT CLOGGED will appear when the duct is clogged with debris. Use your declogging tool to remove the debris. Start by opening Matic’s lid. Remove the HEPA bag and brush roll. Insert the declogging tool into the duct in the HEPA bag cavity and push out any debris blocking the duct.
