The Challenges of Cleaning Floors (and the Trade-Offs)

Floor debris comes in all shapes, sizes, and densities. The debris can exist anywhere on these three major spectrums :

• Size: small size (dust particles) to large Size ( Leaves from indoor plants, cheerios)

• Density: low density (carpet lint, popcorn) to high density (sand, metallic screws)

• Shape: Granule-shaped (coffee grounds, sunflower seeds), string-shaped (hair, carpet fibers, fur), and sheet-shaped (pieces of paper, confetti, leaves)

Traditional vacuums rely on strong suction paired with bristle-heavy brush-rolls to pick up this spectrum of debris. While this approach works, it often comes at a cost:

• Carpet Strain: High suction can damage plush carpets and damage fibers.

• Floor Abrasion: Stiff bristles risk scratching delicate surfaces like hardwood, marble, or expensive rugs.

• Hair tangle hell: Every human, pet, or stray yarn fiber wraps itself around the brushroll, forcing you to do frequent maintenance you never signed up for.

Bristles were the first thing to go. Instead, Matic uses a consistent brushroll diameter. Why? Because hair hates big, smooth surfaces:

• Short hair doesn’t have enough length to wrap around.

• Long hair remains loose and mobile, allowing Matic to redirect it into the waste compartment—not onto the brushroll where it would force you to cut it out.

A purposeful redesign results in less hassle for you and fewer interruptions for Matic.

2. Accommodating Larger Debris

Cheerios, popcorn, and leaves are floor-cleaning eyesores that many vacuums struggle with. Matic’s design includes large flaps with generous clearances, so it effortlessly scoops up larger debris without pushing it around.

3. Soft on Carpets, Gentle on Floors

Our brushroll is soft, smooth, and built to protect delicate surfaces with care. It won’t scratch your polished hardwood, scuff your marble, or snag on rug tassels. Your floors stay clean and pristine.

4. Multiple Passes, Maximum Clean

We know—that some traditional vacuums might out-clean Matic in a single, noisy pass with aggressive suction and bristle brushes. But Matic plays the long game. Since it is quiet (at ~55 decibels, softer than your standard dishwasher), efficient, and autonomous, it makes multiple passes when needed to ensure nothing is left behind.

5. Easier Maintenance by Design

Even the best cleaning systems require upkeep, but why make it as frustrating as others do?

Matic’s brushroll is engineered for quick, mess-free upkeep. Unlike other robots that require flipping over (and dumping debris everywhere in the process), Matic’s cleaning head is easily accessible from the top. Just flip open the cleaning head, and voilà—you’ve got access to the brushes without the need to lift or flip the robot.
